According to the International Air Transport Association, one in five of the world’s air travel passengers will be going to, from or within China by 2034. Hong Kong’s third runway project is part of the city-state’s push to accommodate this increasing regional capacity.
Officially approved to break ground in April 2016, reclamation work and detailed design can now begin on the HK$141 billion project.
This session will explore Hong Kong International Airport’s plans to construct a 3,800-metre new runway and supporting infrastructure, and some of the maintenance considerations being taken into account on this greenfield project.
